Embroidered Patches

We stitch your design onto a durable twill base to your exact size, shape and colours, and import it for you (supplied across South Africa and Africa):

• Standard embroidery — satin and fill stitching with a raised, textured finish. Hard-wearing and traditional for shoulder, chest, cap and rank badges.
• 3D puff embroidery — foam-raised stitching that lifts lettering and logos proud of the patch for a bolder, more premium look.
• Coverage to suit — from 75% up to 100% thread coverage: fully embroidered, or stitched detail over a coloured twill background to suit your design and budget.
• Merrowed or hot-cut borders — a classic overlocked merrowed edge for shields, circles, rockers and rectangles, or a laser / hot-cut border for complex, irregular shapes.
• Matching keychains & name tapes — embroidered keychains and woven name tapes produced under the same order.

• Sew-on — plain stitched-border backing for the most secure, permanent attachment. The standard for duty and dress uniforms and insignia.
• Heat-seal — commercial-grade iron-on bond for caps, jackets and workwear that stays put through daily use.
• Iron-on — quick heat-activated backing for lighter garments; holds around 20–30 washes.
• Velcro (hook & loop) — reusable backing you can swap in seconds — ideal for tactical vests, caps and shoulder boards.
• For wet or heavy-wear kit, sew-on holds best — iron-on and adhesive backings lose grip with heat and moisture over time.

• How patch size is measured — as the average of the height and width, so a 75 × 100 mm badge is quoted as an 87 mm patch. Price scales with size and stitch count.
• Common uniform sizes — 50–75 mm for caps, lapels and chest badges; 75–100 mm for shoulder and chest; 100 mm and up for jacket-back and commemorative patches.
• Keep lettering legible — text embroiders cleanly down to about 5–6 mm tall. For anything finer, or very small logos, we'd recommend a woven patch instead.

• Send us anything — a logo, badge, sketch, photo or an existing physical patch. We digitise it for embroidery, and can reproduce an existing badge to match.
• File types — a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) is ideal; a high-resolution 300 DPI PNG or JPG also works.
• Thread colour matching — up to around 12 thread colours, matched to your regulation or brand shades.
• Proof, then sample — you approve a digital proof and then a physical sewn sample before any bulk run.
• Custom packaging — individually bagged, carded or bulk-boxed and labelled to your requirement.

Every patch is embroidered with dense, colourfast thread on a durable twill base, with merrowed or sealed edges that won't fray, and every bulk run is inspected against the sample you approved before it is packed and shipped.

• Washable — turn the garment inside out, use a gentle cold or warm cycle with mild detergent, and avoid bleach.
• Drying & pressing — air-dry or tumble on low, and press with a cloth rather than ironing directly over the stitching.
• Longevity — with sew-on or heat-seal backing and normal care, embroidered badges stay sharp for years of daily uniform wear.

• What's the minimum order for embroidered patches? We're set up for bulk uniform runs, with low minimums for custom work — and the per-patch price drops as the quantity rises, so ask us for bulk tiers.
• Sew-on, iron-on or velcro — which should I choose? Sew-on for permanent duty and dress uniforms, heat-seal or iron-on for quick application on caps and jackets, and velcro for tactical kit you need to swap. For wet or heavy-wear use, sew-on lasts longest.
• Embroidered or woven — what's the difference? Embroidered gives a raised, textured, hard-wearing finish that's ideal for badges, logos and bold text. Woven lies flat and reproduces very small text and fine detail more crisply. We make both.
• Can you copy an existing badge? Yes — send a clear photo or a physical sample and we'll digitise and reproduce it to match your original.
• Are they washable and durable? Yes — colourfast thread on durable twill survives repeated washing. Turn garments inside out, wash gentle and cold, and avoid bleach; sew-on backing holds up longest.
